coming to school kit assembly drive…
The artist many times enjoy more
behind the scenes… but the pleasure is beyond words when viewers and audience declare
it “their” movie… it’s a reward for the artist… We, the people behind
the scene, experience the same pride and happiness when volunteers make the
drive theirs.
Every Sunday is more than awaited thing… Every year, the
drive makes me more enriched than ever. 9.30am on Sunday seems to be a lazy
hour but in the month of May, it’s full of zest with all the lovely people
gathered for school kit assembly.
The assembly drive starts with dumping all the stationary
and bags into inventory room at Balshikshan School. Quality checking of bags is
something very crucial. Zips, stitching, Belts everything is checked so that no
kid gets a substandard bag… The defective bags are sent back for repairs. Good
bags go to the next level where stationary including 9 notebooks, crayons,
drawing book, compass box is filled in the bag. The bag is now assembled and
sent back to the storage room. The last thing in the drive is distribution
according to requirement.
Yeah, I know what I penned down seems very dry but just be a
part of process and you know how romantic it is to be part of it! The discipline,
the team work, the bonding, the mutual understanding, the friends… all we get
just enriches life a li’l more every day. The great people who visit the drive
and motivate the volunteers give the feeling of Pride as well as
responsibility. The breaks and fillers … Ahh ! They are just bliss! May it be
group song led by Nitin ji or Manik Tai… some fun filled activities, some
artists performing with their instruments and passion, may it be listening to
our very own and dearest Atulji, May it be listening to Vivekji and feeling the
blood running with more speeds out of motivation, May it be great nos. of
donations received, shared by Dada Lele and Mrudula tai, May it be teasing by
Anandji or Hetal ji…..May it be an excellent idea of Lipdub by Hetalji.... May it be watching kids doing kitting activities for
other kids of their age, May it be lunch together…. The common factor is “those
beautiful smiles” …on all the faces… smile of happiness, smile of pride, smile
of emotional and social bonds, and smile of making a real difference…. You can’t
feel it till you come there J
It’s all about people and you know it only after being with them…
But this is not all about school kit drive… School kit drive
has given me something new every year… I remember, first and foremost year, I
met Atul ji… founder of SS…. That has been probably the greatest reward I have
ever got. Eventually every year I met many good friends. I was fortunate enough
to learn many management fundamentals here in last few years. I have been
blessed enough to explore my own qualities after meeting like minded people. I
have been cherishing artist hood with some cool artists and great audience at
Seva Sahyog… But this year is special… This year… many people came forward for yearlong
activitiesin urban slums. We could find many hidden writing artists within us… Some
first timers, some experts… but all were equally passionate about sharing their
feelings through blogs… some were informative … some were cute… some were
touching….
